Does anyone know who the American was Pippi Longstocking?

Some legal Pippi Longstocking DVD tip at: question Melisa : Does anyone know who the American was Pippi Longstocking I always loved the adventures of Pippi Longstocking as a kid. Now that I'm older, I want the same experience to pass on to my niece. I know the Swedish Inger Nilsson (original) played Pippi, but it was the same girl who starred in the American version?
